Joseph Manuel Placido, 71, lost his courageous battle to cancer on November 26, 2024. He leaves behind his sister, Rosemary Carreiro; brother, George A. Placido; his nephew, Jamie N. Carreiro, his wife, Jessica and his great nephew, Anthony. He is predeceased by his parents, Joaquim (Jack) and Eva Placido; sister, Jacqueline Laires; and brother-in-law, Nelson Carreiro.
A champion duckpin bowler, and talented billiard player, he participated in leagues for many years. Joe lived a happy life in Central Falls, RI, with his brother and would visit his friends with whom they shared a love of all the New England sports teams. He started his career working in his father’s store, Woodlawn Liquors, until its closure. He worked as a corporate manager at The Fair Lumber Company for many years before managing Darlington Liquors until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with his family, who have many fond memories of his passionate approach to watching sports and the funny catchphrases he would exclaim. Dedicated to his faith, he attended church services every Saturday night with his dear cousin, Elsa. Everyone who knew him loved him, he will be sadly missed by all.
Services in memory of Joseph will be private.
